“They’re giving you everything” QUEENZ! The Show With BALLS! reigns supreme during its UK tour

Serving looks, killer riffs and death dropping tricks, QUEENZ! The Show with BALLS! absolutely stuns during it’s London run.

QUEENZ, currently touring the UK, made a brief stay at the Arts Theatre in London and certainly made its mark. The show was full of everything you need for a great night out. It had glittering outfits to die for, stunning choreography, powerful vocals and a whole lot of heart. It is clear when watching that the performers love what they are doing, they are there to have fun and that in turn invites the audience to forget the worries of the day and just let loose.

The show contains an immaculate set list, with songs such as ‘It’s Raining Men’, ‘I Will Survive’, ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ and many more. However, a very fitting musical section was a standout, especially as it was their West End debut. The Queenz jam-packed around 20 different musical songs into 7 minutes, all whilst adding their own hilarious spin on each number. For example, ‘Defying Gravity’ became ‘Defying Gender Roles’ and ‘I Am Telling You’ became ‘It’s Not a Lipsync’.

It is very valid to say that the humour in this show can be rather dirty and vulgar, but that is expected and left the whole audience laughing for the whole show. It is not for the faint of heart, or easily offended. However, it is a culmination of the artistry of drag and the whole show is a celebration of inclusivity and loving who you are. An extremely touching moment was ‘True Colours’ which was performed sat down, in a much a more intimate way compared for the rest of the show, and there was barely a dry eye in the house, including the performers.

Full Company

The show envelops the audience in its energy, as it is performed in a concert-type way rather than a typical musical performance. You are encouraging to film, dance and the Queenz perform with hand-held microphones. The vocals of the show are insanely talented, the performers go all out for every number and the vocal range of the cast is truly remarkable. The only issue is that sometimes, due to the concert style, the music overpowered the vocals, which is a shame but overall, it is certainly a show people should see just to forget life for an hour and a half.
