Drag royalty returns to the West End:

Following three sold-out West End runs and a UK tour, the producers of Death Drop are back with a brand-new addition to their campy and chaotic ways.

Death Drop: Back in the Habit tells the story of a group of nuns, secluded in their Convent. However, they are disrupted by sinister goings on and the unexpected visit of a man! It continues the comedic, meta tone of it’s predecessor whilst also serving murder, plot twists and mystery; the show has a bit of everything.

The show continues the theme of starring many famous Drag Artists. These vary from RuPaul's Drag Race Alumni (Willam, Cheryl Hole, River Medway, Victoria Scone) to well-known drag king LoUis CYfer.

Victoria Scone shines in this production, putting on an excellent performance. She owns the stage and can capture the audience’s attention with a simple head movement or even just a breath. Not only does she look stunning, but she gave everything in her performance and it would not be a surprise to see her on the West End stage again. LoUis CYfer also was hilarious throughout the production, nailing every joke and holding his own as the only drag king on stage for most of the show. Cheryl Hole, River Medway and Willam all gave very strong performances also. Willam served all his one-liners with excellent comedic timing, Cheryl Hole was certainly not giving ‘mediocre’, spreading bimbo energy, and River Medway spun her way into our hearts.

The writing of Death Drop: Back in the Habit is where the show shines. It balances comedy, mystery, parody and meta references extremely well; it certainly knows it’s audience. From references to the stars’ previous work, political statements and crude jokes, the show is varied in it’s humour, providing something for everyone. The favourite running gag is about how the show has no budget, and not only does this joke benefit them as they can save money on effects, set and costuming but it also is very funny. From people running down invisible stairs, hilarious puns referencing real life people and avoiding musical numbers due to ‘copyright infringement’, every joke lands.

This show is a must see (not for kids) for a fun night out. It feels like watching a well-written and produced adult pantomime, with even cruder jokes.

Death Drop: Back in the Habit is currently touring the UK, with a short stay at the Garrick Theatre from the 8th November to 20th November.
